Governing Committee

The governing body of a Grama Panchayat is a collective of elected representatives responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of Panchayati Raj institutions. It implements the decisions of the Grama Sabha and efficiently manages the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Panchayat.The current President, Smt. Valsala T. V., serves as the head of the Panchayat and oversees its administrative functions. The Vice President, Shri Ajay Ghosh V., takes charge in the absence of the President and provides necessary support in governance.The Panchayat consists of 20 wards. Elected representatives from each ward actively participate in development activities. Ward members address public issues and help implement various development schemes at the local level.

History

Although Koppam Grama Panchayat was formed as a part of Valluvanad taluk in 1961, it was later brought under Pattambi taluk. This village, which has made great strides in the field of education through institutions like GVHSS Koppam,GWLPS Pulasseri has grown into a large village with a population of 30169 today. Koppam, which had 17 administrative wards, had to elect its presidents through lot in both 2022 and 2025, when it became 20 wards after latest delimitation , which is a rare political event. Koppam, which was completely dependent on the agricultural sector, has not only become a major commercial hub today; in the modern era, the panchayat is giving importance to infrastructure developments such as digital literacy, better street lighting systems, and waste management.
